Illustrative compression examples
A high-bitrate phone recording can often be reduced more than an already optimized web video. These examples explain the pattern rather than promise a fixed result.
Results vary with codec, resolution, bitrate, duration, noise, and motion. Your result panel displays the measured sizes for your own file.

Static areas may compress efficiently; small text should be checked.

The file may shrink only slightly or even grow after re-encoding.
Try it with your videoThree real steps
Select the file, choose how strongly to re-encode it, and save the result. No server upload is part of the local workflow.
Select an MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, WebM, or FLV file up to 500 MB. The file stays on your device.
Pick High quality, Balanced, or Maximum compression according to the size and visual detail you need.
Wait for browser processing to finish, compare the sizes, and download the H.264 and AAC MP4 result.
The privacy difference
Traditional server-based tools generally need the file before they can start. Vidoro's local mode moves the compression engine to your device instead.
Ready for the next destination
A smaller MP4 is easier to move between people and apps. The right compression level depends on whether detail or transfer size matters more.
Make clips easier to send through WhatsApp and other messaging apps, especially on slower connections.
Reduce a video before attaching it to an email, or create a lighter version when a direct attachment is preferable.
Prepare smaller files for Discord, Slack, social posts, client review, or a shared project space.
Create a lighter viewing copy of a large MOV or MP4 while keeping the original source as your archive.
Input and output
Choose a file up to 500 MB. Very large videos require more memory and can take longer to process.
One compatible result
The browser does not currently produce H.265, VP9, or AV1 output. Vidoro uses H.264 and AAC for practical playback compatibility.
Under the hood
When you compress video online with Vidoro, the page loads an FFmpeg core compiled to WebAssembly after you start. The core reads your selected file from browser memory, decodes its streams, and creates a new MP4 without sending the media to an API.
The three profiles use H.264 Constant Rate Factor values. High quality uses CRF 23, Balanced uses CRF 28, and Maximum compression uses CRF 35. A lower CRF preserves more visual data and usually creates a larger file. Audio is encoded as AAC at 128 kbps.
Compression is lossy. No tool can promise that a smaller H.264 copy has zero quality loss. For text, faces, and detailed motion, start with High quality or Balanced and watch the result before removing your original.
Device performance matters because the work is local. Close memory-heavy tabs, keep enough storage for the output, and use a current Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox version. A desktop typically handles long, high-resolution material more reliably than a phone.
Questions, answered
The local compressor processes your video inside the browser with FFmpeg WebAssembly. The file is not sent to Vidoro's backend or a third-party conversion service.
No. This English compressor uses only the browser-local mode. Choosing, compressing, previewing the result size, and creating the download all happen on your device.
The current input accepts MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, WebM, and FLV. The output is an MP4 file encoded with H.264 video and AAC audio.
Reduction depends on the source codec, bitrate, resolution, duration, noise, and motion. A high-bitrate recording often shrinks more than a video that is already efficiently compressed.
The compressor uses lossy H.264 encoding, so zero quality loss cannot be guaranteed. High quality preserves more detail, while Balanced and Maximum compression trade more detail for a smaller file.
The current product limit is 500 MB. Large files require more browser memory and can take longer, so a modern desktop browser is recommended near the limit.
No account is required. Open the page, choose a video, select a compression level, and download the result.
No. The local compression command re-encodes the video and audio without adding a logo, overlay, or watermark.
The tool can run in a modern mobile browser, but available memory is lower on many phones. Keep the tab open and use a desktop for large or long videos when possible.
Your device must decode every frame, encode a new H.264 stream, process audio, and assemble the MP4. Duration, resolution, motion, and device performance all affect the time required.
